Two Mainstream Media Stories Convinced Me We Need Our Own Media Framework
There were two recent stories that came out that convinced me that someone out there trying to feed me propaganda and want me to buy all into it. Well, it ain’t going to work like that and maybe it will work on other cats but not me. But the real issue here is brothas and sistas need their own media outlets to make sure we can spread our own stories and our own truths and stop letting others have a voice in our households and try to influence us.
Al Sharpton is a Tool Pathetically Trying to Blunt the Nation of Islam Success
Several weeks ago, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam announced in an unprecedented move the NOI will take to the street to confront the out of control violence in Chicago. This move was unprecedented as other fake Black civil rights organizations sit there and talk about racism against us but don’t talk about or address Black-on-Black issues and pretend such issues do not exist.
As far as we can tell, none of us can dispute this is making a positive impact. But see, that’s a problem for the mainstream media who is attempting to suppress any news about Minister Louis Farrakhan or the Nation of Islam unless it is a story they can spin in a negative manner in mainstream media outlets. But as I told you before, whenever a real brotha or sista down with their people do something, the Boule Blacks try to rear their ugly head and see if they can steal the limelight to appease their handlers.
Now we hearing some crap about Al Sharpton and his so-called National Action Network, the same group that always show up late to any issue, talking about they have some movement called “Occupy the Corners” or something like that.
If you Google it, you will notice NewsOne, the same entity behind Radio One that I believe host the Al Sharpton radio show is promoting this story and there is an additional layer of stuff behind that regarding Boule matters not worth talking about at this time. The point is, that these Boule cats are now showing up after the Nation of Islam is putting in the ground level work claiming they going to “Occupy the Corners” as national news in the mainstream media.
I want you to notice some things here regarding Al Sharpton. Noticed that Al Sharpton did not acknowledge the Honorable Minister Farrakhan or Nation of Islam efforts or did not even mention he will even augmented what they already done. That should tell you Al Sharpton isn’t about unity in the Black community – he is there to blunt the Nation of Islam and try to take away from the Nation of Islam, meaning he is not doing this out of love for the Black community, he doing this because he been told to blunt Minister Louis Farrakhan, plain and simple.
And look at the language here – Occupy the Corners. When you “occupy” something that means you are taking it over and conquering it by force. The last I check, those corners were always the Black community corners so I don’t know what the heck Al Sharpton is talking about. In addition “Occupy the Corners” is hostile verbiage towards the street because if I told you I was going to occupy your corners, that means you better start looking for a funeral home and put down a deposit on a casket because that is exactly what occupy your corners mean – I’m taking over your ish, homey.
The streets will recognize Al Sharpton for the fake punk charlatan he is and Al Sharpton knows the Black community knows what he about. And regardless of what the mainstream media puts out, the streets will recognize the Nation of Islam for coming out to the community as their brothas and sistas and not occupying but stepping to them, greeting them and shaking their hand like Minister Farrakhan is doing. Let’s not forget we got crazy Black folks stabbing Martin Luther King, Jr. and shooting his mother while she was in church and also the whole Malcolm X assassination talk. Minister Farrakhan has more threats than Benjamin Jealous, Marc Morial and Al Sharpton combined but he put himself out there on those violent streets of Chicago meeting and greeting Black folks on the streets, not scared of his people or act above his people but operating out of love for his brothas and sistas – think on that.
The real question is why isn’t President Obama out there on the South Side of Chicago with all that violence going on – that’s the real damn question if you ask me.
But They are Sikhs, Not Muslims!
The recent shooting at a Sikh temple taken an extremely perverse turn in the media reporting and everybody is asking what the hell is going on in the mainstream media? I believe everybody including White people are recognizing the bias going on with this story that trying to attack both military service and Muslims at the same time.
The first part was they kept saying the shooter was an Army veteran who served during 1992-1998 which was during the Clinton years – that kind of peacetime service is not the same as someone who had to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq and the media was attempting to compare the Sikh temple shooter to that dude that went on a shooting spree in Afghanistan who clearly had PTSD and kept being deployed in combat zones. The media is backing away from this propaganda smear but we veterans won’t forget they tried.
Second and this is the part that I was extremely bewildered about – the media kept saying the Sikh people are not Muslim although they look like Muslims! Is the media trying to say this shooter was meaning to shoot Muslims but was mistaken? Why was this whole Muslims look like Sikhs and Sikhs looking like Muslims thing even brought up? This sounds like the media wanted to promote a story about Muslims being targeted and trying to say the shooter attacked the wrong ethnic group, showing hatred against Muslims and only one group of people in the media comes to mind behind the promotion of that kind of unwarranted anti-Muslim bias in mainstream media.
This shooter didn’t give a damn if they were Sikh or Muslim – the shooter hated anything non-White and represented “multi-culturalism” and now the mainstream media backed away from that whole Sikh and Muslim angle after finding out the shooter was part of an extremist group. Here is the thing, the media is wanting to promote terrorism because terrorism stories sell. Again, we got Mexico to the south dumping dozens of bodies in public places every damn day, kidnappings in Texas and Arizona but the media want to focus on Middle East stuff like it is far away entertainment.
Look, you as an American is more likely to die or have adverse impact on your personal life through drugs and your job as a result of ish happening in Mexico than anything going on in the Middle East. Do you see Middle Eastern cats picking cucumbers, painting houses and ish without legal papers taking opportunities away from Americans with just HS diplomas? Do you see Middle Eastern cats running grow houses, stash houses, warehousing meth, coke and weed and trafficking kids and women? So why the f*ck are Americans so damn obsessed about what going on in the Middle East instead of what’s happening across the border?
We Need Our Own Media Framework
I have already identified it is critical our community create our own media framework. For too many years, we are allowing people to ship propaganda into the Black community households and our lives and this produced an adverse reaction. We like to say the media has no effect on people but we had one guy dress up as the Joker and shoot up Batman movie watching people and was obsessed with the storyline and we had another guy performing hate-based songs shooting others based on that hate and propaganda – I better not hear another ignorant Black person try to sell us that bullsh*t that negative media programming does not impact our community and people in a negative manner.
By having our own media framework, we built the foundation of our empowerment. We give ourselves a real voice and we promote media content that has a positive impact on our lives. In addition, we promote local business and activities to spur economic and social development. This is the key missing element. We never had a real Black media framework in our existence and this is why we are in the situation we are in and need to create one and this generation has to do it.
The problem with stuff like BET and Radio One and Ebony and all that other stuff is they operated on a business model in the same framework as mainstream media trying to get advertisement from major corporations based on viewership and demographics. In addition, you have to remember something because this is a popular myth – the reason why Black media is violence, sex and situational comedies disguised as romance is because these types of movies are cheap to make and more profitable because Black women consumers go and watch that crap and actually post about it on Facebook.
Then as you see, we got these Boule clowns who are trying to promote themselves to reinforce their ego to Black people instead of promote content that is helpful to Black people. Then they are speaking on behalf of the liberal or conservative machine pretending they are the next Frederick Douglas when they are not. We need to straight have our own media to call these people out and let them know the realness is in the room.
IPTV, display advertising, print advertising, marketing and promotion and streaming audio had to be a base framework for economic and social development in our community. No more one person and their ego with one show like the Tony Brown show, f*ck that stupid crap. No, we need ish like a studio either in Atlanta or Chicago or DC or New York or Los Angeles or Houston pushing out content and we also need a delivery channel to make sure this content reach our intended audience in the hood. Those two stories I read above is the reason why we needed our own communication/media framework like yesterday.

Everytime al sharpton comes on t.v im like what the …..
I haven’t seen that dude do anything but get a bunch of people to hold hands and sing we shall overcome. Just like he did when that dude in Atlanta was about to get executed.
Other than that I haven’t seen or heard of him doing anything. Holding hands dont’ count. Cant sandusky me. Imo If you not going to do anything you need to get out the way and al sharpton needs to get out the way. maybe he done something before my time that I am unaware of…
When Minister Farrakhan the NOI would be on the streets, they had boots on the ground immediately. Al Sharpton is basically talking ish about doing something.
Do ou think that one would have to deal with FCC regulations in terms of setting up the IpTV framework? Aside from the fees that one would have to worry aout I don’t think that is any excessive barriers. They breakdown the fees on their site. http://www.fcc.gov/fees
I think all of us readers need to brainstorm and come up with a way that we can get this started without dealing with the FCC, but making it a staple with heaving and effective marketing tactics that will have people dumping comcast, time warner, dish, etc. With programming that is exclusive only for the iptv, so I think it realy has to set it up so that it isn’t like the Roku box but there can also be live programming if need to be. And we just have to figure out how to do that.
FCC does not and cannot regulate IPTV as it is private channels, not public. The same with cable but as a general rule, terrestrial waves like UHF,VHF,AM,FM, airport airwaves and shortwaves are FCC regulated. Now, wi-fi is FCC regulated and this is important in setting up range extenders on rooftop to transmit private channels.
Radio One is at $.80/share with a market cap of $40 million. No need to build from the ground up in 2012, buy your enemy out.
Definitely can be done. Deep Dish Television.
Earl, buying Radio One is like buying Radio Shack or Blockbuster video, no one wants that archaic model. They are just a firm just waiting for disruption for a low cost new entrant into the market.
Ed, how much $$$ do you estimate would be required to put up and operate the IPTV infrastructure in each metropolitan location, inclusive of gathering and providing a modest stipend to content providers?
Since I’ve been putting up distance learning labs for the past couple of years, and smart classrooms, I’ve learned a thing or two about a thing or two related to low cost/high quality educational content creation, and can replicate this fairly easily.
There is no wheel reinvention required here, just some organization, project management and hustling. Operating from a common playbook across multiple localities would help this scale up quickly, while substantially lowering costs.
Count Kansas City in, and I speck we could get Spence in Baltimore in and maybe even Cobb in Los Angeles. If we got your boy Denmark Vesey there in ATL in, I speck he could give it a tremendous boost on the pretty people marketing and packaging front.
@CNu,
I’m mobile at the moment, but if you do a search on ” open source iptv broadcasting”, you will see an article that diagram and detail all the free software and roles from pre-production to post-production.
Putting the framework together is the easy part. Getting our brainwashed people to watch and support will be virtually impossible.
Best way to counter that is make shows that make fun of the brainwashed people and go hard on them. They’ll watch it then, trust me.
This would have to be something we can literally start up over the weekend. Definetly cannot be started by one person. I’ve already spoke with someone who is a cinematographer and is on board with getting content established. Hey Ed do you think the next webinar’s theme could be based on this? I see that there are alot of people on the comments that are serious about implementing this. Or maybe we have to put it on the wiki and everybody just go in?
Maybe we can start with a radio station and have news on that… or a podcasts, to get the listeners up then start on TV station.. maybe take that bounce station over who seems to be selling out
