Dream and Hustle Will Fully Embrace STEM in 2012
In 2012, Dream and Hustle will be 100% committed to applying STEM-based strategies to create empowerment and progress among the Diaspora. These civil rights organization, activist pundits are hereby notified that they are no longer relevant come 2012 as Dream and Hustle will focus on true solutions to help brothas and sistas come up in this world, stack their money up and get theirs and do for themselves and their people and their community.
The last US Department of Labor unemployment report showed unemployment across all sectors of African-Americans (men, women, teenagers) risen while other demographics saw a decrease in unemployment. We got homeless young kids who look like they should be in college and I’m hearing the stories of their single mom losing her home and she living with relatives while they out on the street. Or the single mother who boyfriend got caught up and she can’t pay rent and don’t know anybody sleeping out of her compact Nissan with her child. I personally don’t know where any of these other cats got the luxury of consuming themselves with Tyler Perry and reality TV shows with all of this devastation against our Black youth and our people overall in our community.
Black people are still getting thrown out of their jobs, thrown out of their homes, cannot get heating assistance this year – President Obama and the White House personally targeted the heating assistance as well as Section 8 program for cuts earlier this year in case you want to forget that. Our communities are deteriorating with crime and drugs and apathy as well as dysfunctional generations of broken families and relationships as well as no real outlet for leisure and quality of life. Again, I don’t know where cats got the luxury of watching Tyler Perry and these reality television shows with this much devastation of our people going on right here and right now.
I’m personally fed up and tired of it. I’m tired of crazed radical Black nationalists just running their mouth and cats in the audience talking that same old “preach brotha!” crap for the past 15-35 years. I’m tired of radio show civil rights and social activists just running their damn mouth acting like he doing something other than running their damn mouth. I’m tired of certain Black organizations who are nothing but a bunch of uppity supercilious Negroes who can give a rat behind about regular Black people but act like they working hard for our interests while our people hurting hard in real time. And most of all, more than anything else – I’m extremely tired of all the everyday African-Americans walking around pretending they are deaf, dumb and blind to what is going on around us and operating in denial mode. Something has to be done.
Global competitiveness is real and is a zero sum game if cats are just sitting idle and act like someone is going to come around give them something or help them and their situation. We got cats still talking about “they need a job” instead of doing and facing what Black people have been avoiding for the past several generations – we got to create our own jobs in our own communities to sustain our culture and lifestyle. Then you got radio stations like Radio One trying to “dumb down” and emotionally manipulate already hurt and broken Black people with ignorant media programming. But even worse are the churches that take money from the community from elders and other vulnerable elements of the Black community and take that money out of the local economy and spend it on a Cadillac and home for the pastor or bishop or whatever. Something has to be done.
Right now, the state of the African-American culture is we got a bunch of fake cats who are making money off pretending to represent African-Americans while we got African-Americans at large suffering hard from socio-economic woes. The reality is no one is working on any kind of progress or solution and is on some straight nonsense and me and you is just supposed to sit back and let this happen. Yes, I’m supposed to just sit back and pretend as we go to sleep tonight, pretend that some 20 year old brotha or sista is not sleeping in a run-down vacant apartment with one eye open hoping not to be robbed or raped and was smart enough to go to school or work a good job if given the opportunity – yeah, I’m suppose to ignore that ish and instead go watch Tyler Perry and reality shows on cable TV like the rest of cats. No, I have a better idea.
I realize Dream and Hustle can focus on incorporating STEM into the strategy for our people progress. No more emotional talk, no more empty rhetoric that sound good and focus on using STEM to solve problems and create solutions that is real and deliver results. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math and this is what Dream and Hustle will incorporate into this blog as we focus on address the reality of our situation and coming up with solutions to create a path to progress and prosperity. With that proposed, let’s break down how we here at Dream and Hustle will incorporate STEM into our approach.
Science
We will focus on fact-finding and validating or invalidating theories through scientific methods regarding issues and challenges and opportunities African-Americans are presented with. No more side of the neck commentary that is based on opinion or empty rhetoric or whining. If someone want to say we cannot open up in the hood, Dream and Hustle will do freakanomics and get the real numbers on if this statement is true or not. With that said, we hope to neutralize all these cornball brothas and sistas who keep talking about what we can and cannot do and haven’t done one bit of real research or a fact-finding endeavor so get real data that others can look at.
For example, I remember some character telling me that prepaid cards will not work in the hood because people in the hood want to use cash, especially old people. Now, I’m sitting here in front of me with real reports and research on my desk that African-Americans and especially poor and elder African-Americans are the highest concentration of people using alternative payments to credit cards and cash and I’m sitting here listening to someone talk some ish about what they believe or think about this matter. That’s the type of crap that Dream and Hustle want to get rid of by focusing on the facts and the truth and sharing the real data among ourselves so we can stop guessing and assuming stuff and not understanding what it takes.
Technology
Plain and simple, we cannot compete or survive and thrive if we do not understand technology and stay on top of technology. This blog is nothing like these other African-American or Black tech bloggers as we are not following anybody and actually leading our own technology imitative to apply to our situation. We will focus on technology as tools to help us create empowerment based solutions for our community. For example, I realize the biggest barrier to starting up a business in the hood is the cost of a point-of-sale system that can handle a high density customer base as well as upfront inventory cost. I realize the solution is to create an ESB-orientated retail platform designed for the hood as well as incorporate just-in-time shipping and prepaid processing options. That is exactly how we use technology to address our situation.
Most of the problems in the Black community can be addressed with technology and we will focus on how to use technology. You will see us using geo-intelligence and data gathering to formulate information on hoods in our wiki section. We are going to demonstrate how to program or find the right solution for entrepreneurial endeavors from open source tools to just writing up quick programs for unique solutions like a self-checkout market kiosk. But most important is dataset management with database technology because that is very critical for most of the businesses that brothas and sistas will create that will be global empires.
Engineering
African-Americans like to talk about how our people lost a lot of good manufacturing jobs but something about that statement bothers me. What bothers me is African-Americans spent all those damn years in manufacturing jobs but they don’t realize how easy and straightforward it is to manufacturer products and ship it out? The same way Jesus was a carpenter, some of you Black Christian characters can build and sell manufactured products and make your living that way and it is said that we do not have any Black media that highlight this fact.
For example, one of the things I will and have worked on is building out blueprints using open source CAD software that we can ship to someone in Honduras and they can build a fruit cart to sell fruit and make money for their family. We can offer these same blueprints for fruit carts all around the world empowering people in poor countries to go and pick fruit and sell it on the market from their fruit stand we designed for them. That is the kind of good we smart Black people can do for the world on a social level. But we are also learning how to build and setup manufacturing in the hood and that is why we starting off with fruit carts for cats around the world.
Then we can learn to master the art of CAD engineering to create furniture and other products that can sell worldwide and employ our own people. Anything manufactured in the hood can sell just as fast as anything made in China and take time to ship here to be sold. We have brothas and sistas who have engineering background and cats who know how to weld and woodcut so it makes no sense why we can’t leverage our own skills to create our own manufacturing jobs and opportunities to have worldwide exportable products from our own hoods.
Math
I remember some radio show host named Derrick Bozeman out in WAOK in Atlanta during the APS cheating scandal news making some remark about not using Algebra and asking who use that stuff after graduating? Well, I use Algebra all the time to determine the x factor in computerized scenario planning as well as triangulation, Mr. Bozeman. This is a perfect example of Bozo clowns pretending they can lead Black people but don’t a damn thing about math. This is real talk and as real as it get – you cannot lead Black people in the 21st century if you do not have advanced math skills. You can run your mouth with emotional rhetoric, but you cannot make anything happen or beat the system if you do not have advanced math skills.
Rev. Al Sharpton calls himself the education activist but you never heard him in his entire life or on the radio talk about applied math to addressing African-American issues. When you understand math, you understand skills such as trigonometry that can determine trajectory paths as well as extrapolate data points and with that information, you can break down people habits and even predict their next move. This is being done with cell phones and tracking cats through the use of applied math like trigonometry. Now, with that said, do you think we can afford to sit back and think math is not important?
They already have applied math-based data points on African-Americans and that is why you seeing these bigots being more arrogant in their ways towards Black people. The district attorney office done the math and realize most poor Black males do not got the money to fight a trumped up charge and make them plea bargain for a lesser charge which is the charge they wanted to put them on in the first place. Corporations did the math and realize some salary Black employee do not got the money and resources to fight a discrimination lawsuit that can be dragged out for 7 years or more. The media done the math and realize that they can attract a large docile population of Black people and use that large docile population to blunt any smart, educated Black person who want to stand up to the system. Everything around you has been switched to a math-based strategy and brothas and sistas are still on some emotional stuff.
Dream and Hustle is going to be math heavy and don’t act like we some nerds because I’m not discussing math based on academics, we are discussing math because our lives depend on knowing math. Mathematics is no longer something you don’t want to learn in school anymore, we have to learn math to survive. Making money and stacking paper is based on applied math and true hustlers are actually very good at math and numbers. Real talk, get that crap out of your head about your reluctance to learn math because we are going to discuss math in the way that explains how the game is setup against us and how we can used math to defeat the same math that is being used to marginalized us.
Summary
STEM is the only real solution that African-Americans have not embraced as the platform to build our solutions upon. We can no longer be in denial that the African-American community is suffering due to not embracing STEM in the 21st century. Our people have to get on top of science, technology, engineering and math and this stuff is not “nerd stuff” – this stuff is key to our survival. Show me someone that think they can get by without STEM and I will show you an extremely delusional character in denial of reality.
STEM has already marginalized a sizable population of African-Americans since Bush Jr was elected in 2000 and some of yall don’t even realize it. The cops use STEM to entrap and catch up brothas and sistas, the job use STEM to claim they meeting minority quotas, the media use STEM to promote negativity information about our people without being noticed. We are the only people in a modern society that is not using STEM and that cannot happen anymore.
So I hope you cats fully understand why Dream and Hustle will take STEM so serious that it will be the core of this blog content in 2012.

I’m ready. Eyes wide open.
I can feel the urgency in your writing bro. Amazing.
I’m starting school (undergrad) in the summer and would like some advice on what should i study to best contribute to what Dream and Hustle is starting here. I’m already taking real estate classes starting next month. The math part of STEM is catching my eye as well… should i go to a technical college to focus my study or apply to a State uni (Ohio State in my case) and begin from the ground up there?
