Are Plantation Blogs Defending President Obama More Than Serving The Best Interest of Brothas and Sistas?
Plantation blogs such as The Root, The Grio and Black Voices are owned by corporate entities who do not have accountability or social responsibility towards the best interest of the African-American demographic they are targeting. In fact, what we notice is these plantation blogs are blatantly more interested in advancing propaganda that promotes a liberal/Boule status quo that we supposed to subscribe to or look up to or admire or whatever.
In addition, we realize these plantation blogs are establishing a pattern where they will not address issues regarding President Obama record of signing into law or enforcing existing laws that adversely affect African-Americans and Hispanics. This article is going to give three examples of how these plantation blogs cover current events and hopefully, African-Americans will learn to get off these plantation blogs and start reading more independent bloggers that cater to our community and our interest.
NDAA – Indefinite Detention for The Jeff Fort and Geronimo Pratt Wannabees
“On New Year’s Eve, President Obama signed the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. The controversial military spending bill allows the indefinite detention of American citizens suspected of involvement in terrorist activities without access to an attorney or trial by jury. Yes, you read that correctly. INDEFINITE detention of AMERICAN citizens WITHOUT TRIAL. Frightening, isn’t it?”
That’s right, President Obama who signed this extremely damaging law into effect and this law will certainly be used against African-Americans who speak up against the system by post-Obama presidencies. Jailhouse snitches looking to shave years will quickly go after these “Prislam” (Prison Islam) cats and claim they on some Jeff Fort type stuff and you’ll never see that cat again and they will be up in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba somewhere.
Oh, my bad – some of you cats forgot candidate Obama promised closing down Guantanamo Bay and yet it is still open and operational and even being considered as a place to lock up people accused of violating the NDAA. So that means when LL Cool J from that CBS show come around and lock your Black behind up indefinitely because someone said you cursed out a Black Congress official for not doing their job and label it as terrorism, kiss your friends and family and all the good sex out there goodbye.
But you didn’t hear anything from the plantation blogs about the ramifications of this bill and how President Obama being African-American and knowing his history even with those Weather Underground cats know this NDAA law can be abused by future presidents. It should be obvious the plantation blogs do not want to appear critical of President Obama yet they are fully aware if they are really African-American orientated to know when a GOP get in office, that NDAA law will be abused.
And you know what’s going to happen right? See, that bought and sold Al Sharpton ain’t saying ish about it right now but when a White President get in office, then Al Shaprton is going to start running his mouth trying to say the NDAA is being used to lock up Black people. Then the bigots are going to say President Obama signed the NDAA into law as their fallback, you can bet on that circular reference outcome.
Unemployment Numbers – Dig a Little Deeper Brothas and Sistas
December employment report: 200K new jobs, 8.5% unemployment
(MoneyWatch) 2011 ended on a high note for jobs. The December jobs report showed that 200,000 new jobs were created in the month, and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.5, the lowest rate since February 2009. For the year, 1.6 million non-farm jobs were created (1.9 million total, less 280,000 government jobs lost).
Ok, the plantation blogs and even so-called Black Enterprise magazine, look at what Black Enterprise and some writer named Sade Muhammad wrote:
Well, the problem is if you go to the US Department of Labor web site where these cats are getting their data, you will see in breakdown by race, age and sex that the unemployment rate of African- Americans actually went up, again! What is even more interesting is that the unemployment rate of African-American women went up while African-American men went down in December!
This is really disturbing news for African-Americans in terms of the unemployment situation. I knew for the longest time African-American women unemployment rate were out of control and trending toward negative territory. However, you had a lot of these ignorant ass Black women running around trying to holler that “Black independent woman” ish in the middle of this serious crisis going on and appear to be in denial.
The given rationale of why African-American men – let me make this point, we are talking adult Black men as Black teen unemployment is at an emergency crisis level and nothing being done about it in the Black community. The reason brothas are seeing a drop in unemployment is likely due to the increase in demand for labor and manufacturing blue collar jobs which ties into the global economy of moving products in demand here to America and through the supply chain.
However, with African-American women, sistas tend to focus on jobs with “soft skills” that are now subject to outsourcing or automation. In addition and this is the biggest pain point Black women don’t want to hear is they are failing to compete globally. I mean, come on now – we got Indian sistas who grew up in Africa, educated in the UK, moved back to India to work on outsourcing and now here in America on work visas doing the same job a Black woman took 9 years to get into that position – you want to keep bullsh*tting on the global economic reality around us, Black women?
Black women are going to have to focus on more skills that are concrete such as international trade, finance and technology and media as well as manufacturing and small business operations. These simple jobs that are really nothing more than overrated secretary work sitting behind a computer are the last place these sistas want to be.
When I worked at Liquiditi beverage stand, I ran into young, attractive sistas almost every week who were homeless and asking for direction to the shelter or begging for some snacks for their kids. These are not “bum” sistas like some of you got in your heads – these are those sistas you brothas probably liked a lot back in high school where she didn’t went on to college or maybe dropped out of college I was seeing coming to my stand. This is definitely a serious issue right now.
However, the plantation blogs are not addressing this issue even though the US Department of Labor is publishing the data I just gave you cats because the plantation blogs want to make it seem President Obama is doing a great job with the economy even though Blacks are continuing to see increase in unemployment with little improvement in sight.
An African-American Teenager In Bogota
Last week, the story came out on how a 14 year old African-American sista from Texas was deported to Columbia. Now, cats were running around saying it is the 14 year old girl fault for lying and not the government fault for doing due diligence before deporting a 14 year old girl. This has to be the most ignorant ass bunch of crap excuse where both the Obama supporters and the Tea Party cats are working together to protect both ICE and the Obama administration over their zealot deportation practices.
Check out this interesting video below to show the kind of trend that is going on with ICE and deporting cats. Notice the part where the guy was able to get as far as he can without no one doing any kind of checks and balances. So it should be obvious that the failure of due process within ICE is allowing people to abuse the process and get people deported.
Now I don’t got time to explain but let’s start seeing what is wrong with this story. The first thing people are trying to say is she lied to the judge and government officials about being a Tiki Cortez or whatever – that’s a bunch of bullsh*t. In law enforcement, if they can’t not identify you, they simply call you a john doe or jane doe until they can identify you. Her identity and her lying is not important because she was still an American citizen with rights and that’s where these sorry ass cats are completely wrong.
The idiots who are saying the teenage sista lying are so stupid to realize what they are saying – they are trying to argue that the government can violate Americans rights based on a lie. This goes back to the NDAA act that Obama signed that basically can lock up cats indefinitely based on suspicion and not actual proof. This is what George W Bush and Dick Cheney has done and was being sued for by White Americans who were wrongfully locked up and did nothing more than volunteer work in the Middle East and was named-drop by some terrorist looking to cut a deal under desperation being tortured.
Now, here is what I find interesting in this whole episode. She ran away from Oak Cliff and moved to Houston, Texas. If you don’t know by now, Houston is quickly growing to be the destination for Black migration and is competing heavily with the Atlanta area as the place for brothas and sistas to move to. That is an angle not being discussed at the moment because only brothas and sistas like me is the one who is truly tracking data about African-Americans right now.
Second, when she was deported to Columbia, I’m willing to bet she was sold on getting a job and new life down there in Columbia and she took the deal. It wasn’t ish going on for her in America as Black unemployment among teens is extremely high. She got down there and got into a call center doing work – it doesn’t matter what they paid her, she was doing work. Now here is another angle only cats with international experience like me can get into.
The call center was most likely for English speaking customers and that means she met people down there who spoke English at the call center and took care of her. She would not have lasted in Bogota, Columbia if she just got off a plane and no one took her in. Someone had to take her in and that is the part some of you cats probably don’t want to acknowledge right now. Because I told you we got people overseas and worldwide is willing to help us African-Americans when we go to their countries, yet we African-Americans do not offer such accommodation for these same people when they come here.
The same way they gave this 14 year old runaway a job down in Columbia and hooked her up, they will probably give your Black ass a textile contract to start your own clothing or apparel line to ship out worldwide and your Black ass still up here in America chasing White Privilege assimilation like a dumbass. That’s the real story you may want to take away from this instead of arguing about the 14-year old, real talk.
The plantation blogs do not want to cover the angle of how the Obama administration and ICE is deporting anybody and everybody right now without any due process because they feel illegals are not entitled to due process. Then when an American citizen get caught up in ICE, they are not afforded any due process.
Nobody is going to argue with me that these government officials did not realize this 14-year old girl look like someone R. Kelly would probably want to get with – they should have done more due diligence to protect her rights as an American citizen and treat her as innocent until proven guilty. Let a pretty 14 year old White girl lie that she from South Africa and ICE deport her there and they found out she working a call center in Soweto and pregnant….
Let me reiterate this point – if they giving 14 year girl African-American runaways call center jobs in Bogota, Columbia shouldn’t that give you a clue about how they willing to accommodate us brothas and sistas worldwide? Hmmm, maybe I should get myself deported to Paris or London….
How the Plantation Blogs Are Structured
If you look at the plantation blogs, they have a structured pattern on the news and information they are providing African-Americans. Let’s break down the type of stories these plantation blogs are targeting the African-American mass with.
Liberal and Democratic Party Propaganda. These are stories that appear to attack the Republican Party and people involved with the conservative movement and try to paint them as the “bad guy” of African-American problems. The truth is the problem is not the GOP stepping down on Black people, the real problem is ineffectual like the Rev. Al Sharpton and others are not stepping up to progress empowerment in the Black community. These characters are bought and paid for by the Democratic Party, plain and simple to get the so-called “Black vote” during elections.
They Hate Us! Now Tell Us How You Feel About It. This is the story of the cop who shot someone Black or someone used the n-word or a racial slur trying to provide some kind of shock/fear value. Historically, these types of stories were designed to keep fear instilled into Black people so we can cower under the powers that be. Notice these stories are just written to say it happened but don’t have any plan of action to prevent it from happening again – because they want to keep writing these kind of stories for just the shock value.
Oh My God! Headlines. These are the Boule-written stories that attempt to poke fun at urban/poor Black culture that self-hating Blacks tend to enjoy. These are the ones where they start with an “Oh My God!” type of headline like “Outrageous!” or “Oh No She Didn’t!” or “Shocking!” and then show someone poor or from the hood wearing something that looks outside the norm. Or show a clip of a Youtube video of someone Black doing something considered “ghetto”. These are stories manufactured by self-hating and Boule uppity Blacks who are looking down on the rest of the Black people and reinforcing their uppityness.
Celebrity Voyeurism. These are stories where they trying to focus on someone and write stories about them. These are your reality TV personas, your Black celebrities and other people. The articles always seem to focus on their personal lives such as them dating, marrying and divorcing or them being involved in a fall of grace such as running out of money or going to jail or similar type events. Then the losers go in on the comment board section and provide their two-bit opinion on the matter of someone else lives who are living in the public domain.
Solution – Get off the Plantation Blogs!
African-Americans are going through extremely serious issues right now and the data is there to prove it is going on in real time. There are laws being put in place, unfair judicial processes being put into place and numbers being reported by the government showing the trends that are going on in our community. All of this stuff is being done under President Obama administration and cannot be disputed.
I hope as a result of bringing these issues to light that we truly understand that we have some people among us who are more interested in promoting a status quo over promoting the best interest of our people. These are the same people who say “President Obama is the president of America, not Black America” and don’t realize they are admitting they self-hate their own people because that is exactly what that statement implies.
These plantation blogs are ran by corporations who want to keep us in check and prevent independent Black bloggers from having a dominant voice in our community. This is why these plantation blogs like The Grio, The Root and Black Voice promote ignorance and worthless opinions and not a path to progress and empowerment.
However, we cannot stop these plantation blogs from being sponsored by corporations but African-Americans can stop sponsoring and co-signing these plantation blogs. I do not recommend boycotting these blogs, in fact, I would recommend using up their bandwidth and keep their expenses going up. The thing we brothas and sistas should keep in mind is to look at ourselves and what’s going on around us and not rely on these plantation blogs for information.
You are what you consume – if you want to be an entrepreneur and learn how to make moves then you will be reading something like Harvard Business Review instead of some Dream and Hustle knock-off, real talk. If you want real information about President Obama and what he is really doing for us, you would be going to White House official web site and the government official web site to read exactly what is going on instead of have others like Al Sharpton “narrate” to you what they want you to hear.
Real talk, Black people got real problems and these plantation blogs are not in our best interest. Focus on getting real information to empower oneself so we can start moving towards a real path to progress and prosperity among our people.

Brother Ed:
Applause on on the call out. It is blatantly obvious.
I believe that some forces who sit among us would prefer to see a group of Blacks who are not well versed on an issue but who vote and think in a favorable manner to those who might challenge them.
I would like to expand your argument to include ALL RUNGS of elected officials that represent the Black community. Don’t focus on OBAMA. Turn it around and consider the COST that our community suffers from carrying someone else’s water.
What you point out that is not being covered because of their quest to protect Obama I call “Dark Matter”. Though there is an abundance of evidence that it exists – since they don’t cover it they understand that most Black people are not going to call them out for failing to do so.
I fundamentally turn your argument around, choosing to look WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY and noting that we were sold on the notion that our uplift would be achieved if we stayed united. In truth “The Black Press”, while corrupted, is not the problem.
The problem is with the Black Rank & File.
They know that they are still suffering and still choose to go along with the scheme.
The point that few people get is that we are NOT in a binary choice between the “Democrats and Republicans”. Thus the “lesser of two evils”.
We are in a binary choice between – seeking our development through the “American Political Domain” and DEVELOPING a new domain that is far more encompassing.
To look around the world and see Blacks being ATTACKED in the context of politics – I am made to LAUGH at the latest “insults” that the White GOP has lobbed upon us. Christians were bombed in Nigeria. I saw a documentary about Kenya in which an election loss led to bloodshed – causing the main subject of the movie to vow to never vote again. It was not worth the violence.
The sad and painful truth is that there is NO EVIDENCE that the Black American is DEVELOPING the COMPETENCIES that would allow us to help out any of these “Diasporatic Blacks”.
Instead we have a CONSUMER STRUGGLE to improve our own lives.
