Patrice Lumumba Black History Lesson: Never Have Power without Power
Posted on February 14, 2010 by Ed
Patrice Lumumba was the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo after the country was released from Belgium colonial rule. Yeah, I use the word “released” because it ain’t like anybody in Congo overthrew the colonists like they did in Haiti and Jamaica so let’s be real about Black History if we going to learn from Black History, okay? As the first Prime Minister, Patrice Lumumba made miscalculations and poor judgment against his people, his allies and his enemies which will ultimately lead to his assassination coordinated by the USA and Belgium.
Patrice Lumumba was a pioneer true Pan-African leader visionary who wanted to help unite Africa and build a continent of solidarity to ensure they do not become vulnerable to colonization ever again. He became a very outspoken person against the colonists and there was this one person he wanted to make sure they got the message about colonization – his former oppressor and colonist the King of Belgium during a large Independence Day celebration. So Patrice Lumumba got on stage and told the King of Belgium the grievance of the people and what Belgium did to the their people. Yeah, you tell ‘em Patrice Lumumba! Stick it to the man! Tell him off, brotha! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Patrice Lumumba even told those cats from Belgium that the people of Congo are no longer their monkeys.
Before I go further, let’s get to some reasonable common sense analysis here. If you took your freedom from your oppressor and got the skull and bones of your enemies to drag around in celebration like Julius Caesar or Genghis Khan, then you can talk all the sh*t in the world to cats and tell them to bring it on if they want a repeat. But if someone gave your ass freedom and they release control of a colony over to you and you didn’t do sh*t to earn it like shed blood and stuff like that, then you need to understand your place and your role and who got the power in the room. This was the biggest fatal mistake Patrice Lumumba has made – know your strengths and weakness and accept your position before engaging in confrontation.
To be honest, what Patrice Lumumba did was not smart, it was clearly the dumbest move ever by any Prime Minister, period. You don’t talk commentary ish from a podium like Al Sharpton talks commentary on his radio show when you are in a position of power and influence. If Patrice Lumumba understood real power, he would have known real power is the ability to arrested those mother*ckers, throw up a kangaroo court and march them all out to the field for colonizing your land and screwing over the people of Congo for all those years.
You don’t lecture your enemy about what they did wrong to you – they know exactly what the f*ck they were doing to you! Instead, you put in real work to marginalize or neutralize their ass and make them a nice example to your future enemies to make it known you ain’t the one. But if you can’t do that kind of move, then shut the f*ck up until you are ready and able to make such a move. This was Patrice Lumumba fatal mistake that will cost him his life and he was already through when he made that speech.
Patrice Lumumba then made a second extremely fatal mistake when he decided to raise the pay of the pencil pushers but not raise the pay of the military. See, this is why I have a problem with these African-American cornball social activists who have disrespect and no regard for brothas and sistas with military experience. And this thing Patrice Lumumba did to the military is extremely important for all brothas and sistas worldwide to understand and understand very well.
Please read and read carefully because this is not a debatable point – if you are the leader of the country, your best friend is the military because that is your muscle. This is why the President of the United States of America is also the Commander-In-Chief of all armed forces.
On the National Institute of Health web site designed for kids, they discussed the meaning of the US currency and the eagle. This is the NIH description of the eagle that is on the back of the US dollar bill:
If you look at the right-hand circle, and check it carefully, you may notice that with only slight modifications it is the Seal of the President of the United States. It also appears on every National Cemetery in the United States, the Parade of Flags Walkway at the Bushnell, Florida National Cemetery, and is the centerpiece of most heroes’ monuments. On the Great Seal, the eagle faces the talon holding the olive branch. The eagle on The Presidential Seal faced in the opposite direction-toward the talon holding the arrows until 1945, when Harry Truman had it redesigned to face the olive branch as well.
Please note the eagle talon holding the arrows represent the use of force and the military. The eagle looks at peace but has in it’s other talon the military to handle whatever.
When you are a leader, your military is your muscle and your henchman to make sure you say what you mean and mean what you say. When Patrice Lumumba decided to mess with his own muscle and the only people who can really defend him, he double sealed his fate after that speech he made with the King of Belgium present. Now he got two enemies to deal with.
So let’s look at how f*cked up Patrice Lumumba made decisions so far. He pissed off his Belgium colonists who gave them the independence he boasted about to their faces and he decided to piss off his own military by denying them a pay raise while giving a raise to pencil pushers. Now, if Patrice Lumumba ain’t paying his muscle right, who do you think will come in the picture and give the military some extra dough to corrupt them? Yeah, you guess it, the Belgium cats. My goodness, this Lumumba guy must have been a liberal social activist making these kinds of bad leadership mistakes.
Patrice Lumumba decision has now turned into disaster because now the military is revolting and now chaos is spreading across the country. The Belgium decided to take advantage of the chaos and further corrupt the military leaders to continue to have mass killings and unrest spread throughout Congo. Patrice Lumumba loss control of his muscle but hey, the street and sanitation department got a pay raise! So now Patrice Lumumba makes his third and final fatal mistake. He tries to turn to outside help to resolve an internal conflict.
Now Patrice Lumumba has started to look to outside people like Russia and the United States who are in the most intense moments of a Cold War. The United States and Russia is already hot trying on one-upping each other in skirmishes around the world and this Patrice Lumumba cat think he can find validation and get real support from one of these countries. Keep in mind, that Patrice Lumumba has no muscle with his country in chaos, he is just holding down a Prime Minister title.
This is also a Black History lesson where too many of you brothas and sistas are running around looking for other people to help your Black ass when they don’t give two sh*ts about you and your problems. Some of yall cats need to understand the healing within has to happen within and you should always have faith in yourself and in God knowing that with you and God together, all things are possible. No one outside can handle a situation better than you can. Because now Patrice Lumumba involved the USA and the USSR, one side is going to get pissed when he choose one and he got nothing protecting his ass. And you know what side between the USA and the USSR this Lumumba brotha chosen – he chosen the side that has no Black people, my goodness!
With this said, I would like to present to you this documentary covering the assassination of Patrice Lumumba that was never broadcasted in the United States. I’m going to have to give you guys a warning that you are going to hear graphic real talk from White and Zionist agents (one of them is from the CIA) bragging and smirking talking about how they took down and killed Patrice Lumumba as if he was nothing more than an annoyance. Many of you cats do not want to believe this kind of ish goes on in this world against our people but after watching this video series and you hearing directly from cats who helped turn Congo into a chaotic country and organized the killing of Patrice Lumumba, I think you will see what’s really up:
Now that you saw how it went down on Patrice Lumumba, we need to look at this event in Black History perspective so we can learn from it and not allow these kind of mistakes to happen against us or our people.
The Black History lesson is simple: if you honestly don’t have the muscle and the balls to back up your position, then take a back seat somewhere and don’t step into the arena until your ass get the power. A lot of Black people are running around acting they got power and influence but will get their ass beat down like a rag doll the minute they step into the arena or out of their comfort zone. We got to get real power and that means real self-education and getting real skills to get the job done. In 2010, we got too many fake-ass loudmouth Black leaders who don’t got real power, don’t got real skills and don’t got real muscle to take on the real challenges before us.
If you study the Art of War, you learn to use perceived humility as a weapon against your enemy. You can run away to fight another day. You can plot and understand your enemy strength and weakness. You can always take a back seat and learn how to shift your power. You don’t see open cross burnings and White sheets no more but you do see and hear the same rhetoric on cable TV and AM talk radio, don’t you? These bigots learn to take off the white sheets and put on business suits and smile in your face on Rupert Murdoch media networks. These bigots learned to shift their strategy and still remain intact to their goals. You have to think the same way when dealing with your adversaries and are willing to transform and shift when necessary.
Don’t be so full of yourself that you will act out of sheer ignorance and pride to hold on power ish that you really can’t defend when real cats show up to take it from you. To be honest, if you can’t defend your power, then your ass never had power anyway, you just running a propaganda campaign, real talk. This is what Patrice Lumumba teaches Black History – fake power that was neither earned nor deserved can prevail when the shit hits the fan.
So you should have a Black History understanding that Patrice Lumumba did just as much damage to himself and to the nation of Congo because he failed to realize that it takes more than words and attitude to make ish happen. Now as you see, the muscle that Patrice Lumumba should have respected and used to his advantage are the ones in the picture below showing Patrice Lumumba who got the real power:
You should know this is a historical lesson for anybody with revolutionary leadership skills. Look at Saddam Hussein where he knew he had no power after the first Iraq war and sanctions against his country. Saddam should have long step down from power and he should have transferred the power and be in a way where he could have stayed behind the scene. Now if you look at Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua who was part of the Sandinistas for example, you will see how Daniel Ortega transform and shift towards a political route to gain legitimate power as President of the country. These are textbook examples to understand how to be agile, flexible and avoid being full of stubbornness and pride when it comes to holding on to power.
In summary, Patrice Lumumba at the cost of his life taught Black History to learn how to get real power to make real moves towards real progress to making the world a better place for all. Power does not need to talk, it just need to execute. Always understand your muscle and your henchmen are your biggest asset in any position of power you have.
Real power is as real as your enemies, son. Don’t ever forget that ish because Patrice Lumumba paid a heavy price to teach us all that.

And, since we will never have the military on our side we’d better learn how to be effective in another form. Women have this in spades as they learn to manuever without any physical altercation. We have to learn to use all forms of power not just the one that involves might and guns.
This whole game is about capturing the minds of the masses. Those who control the information usually control the sheep. The game is not so much about challenging people directly but since most men have a ego and want to pound their fist on their chest they end up getting shot. We got a long way to go to really understand and ascertain real power.
Great post and thanks for the history lesson!
You describe the issue I had with Patrice Lumumba as he was more of a bad example to learn from than some kind of icon or someone to admire.
Instead of berating his former oppressor, he should have focused on capturing the hearts and mind of his people.
Instead of having a tirade speech, he should have a day of remembrance and have ceremonies around the country for his countrymen to let the people know they will never forget and never again.
In terms of the military, they should have been put on parade and be a staple of pride like any other country. This is why they do military parades. The people want to know their country has muscle and when they do, they feel safer and can grow the economy with confidence.
He misunderstood power and the role of power. Just because someone got a title don’t give them the right to run around putting their cajones on display. Unless a person got the muscle to back it up, they need to learn their limitation and use it to their advantage..
Good article Ed. I’m dealing with a power crazed narcissist right now and until I figure out how to neutralize her, I need to fall back and lay low. Not my first choice but it’s a tactic.
The Belgians were crazy wicked in their oppression of Africans. I think Lumumba understood power. He just was not willing to go along with the new status quo (neo-colonization).
But dig this, the Europeans are good at their Air and Navy attack but they have not won a ground game since WWII. They can seize but its very difficult to occupy. Haiti is a perfect example. France had all the military and navy might, but could not win when up against guerrilla warfare. This has been the case since the American Revolution.
No war can be won in the Air or by sea alone. You only defend your territory and/or destroy your enemies territory by that method. The goal of colonization and neo-colonization is to always occupy and control. That’s why everything is on the co-intelpro tip today. The Europeans lost in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and even South Africa. And they are losing in Afghanistan today.
Guerilla tactics in modern warfare will always win the ground game making occupation very difficult unless the propaganda (mind) game is strong.
The problem with defeating whitey is that he’s not willing to be on the bottom again because that’s where he started out. So, he will destroy the whole world with nuclear weapons before losing. On the flip side, Black historian John Henrik Clarke said it best when he said that Blacks/Africans have forgotten how to “govern.” So powerful the the brainwashing of colonization has been. So, if we did win, we would destroy ourselves fighting over the new power. History has demonstrated this.
So power without force is the new black? That’s like a blowhard female always talking about “I’m gonna whup that bttch azz” and as soon as you take your jacket off she calling her punk azz boyfriend to save her who still ain’t marrying her loud azz after 6 years, that kind of power?
The only way to reverse this power sucker trend is to just indiscriminately drop the bomb on the sucker — one good time.
